IRVINE - The Estancia High girls basketball team started hot, but
cooled considerably in Monday’s 52-43 loss to Torrance in a consolation
game of the South Coast Classic, held at University High.
After scoring 21 points in the first quarter, the Eagles managed to
score only 21 points in the final three quarters combined.
Despite the torrid stretch of cold shooting and turnovers, Estancia
still led by four with four minutes remaining in the game, but Torrance
closed out the game with a 15-2 run.
Trisha Wase led the Eagles with 15 points, while Marie Rodriguez and
Xochitl Byfield each chipped in with eight points.
With the loss, the Eagles (0-2) will play Trabuco Hills Thursday at
3:30 p.m.
