Wolverines, Hot Shots are winners

The Wolverines came up with a big fourth-quarter effort Sunday to
break open a close game against the Barons. The Wolverines went on to
score a 41-35 victory in Fountain Valley National Junior Basketball
Division II play at Fountain Valley High School.
Ricky Rea -- who paced the Barons with 16 points, four rebounds and a
steal -- led the comeback, and Erik Rhoten -- who finished with five
points, four rebounds, one steal and two assists -- hit a three-point
shot, but the Barons’ rally fell short.
Stuart Schultz and Dillon Gearin each had four points and four
rebounds, and Scott Sorenson and Matt Randol each had two points and
three rebounds.
Schultz also had a pair of steals to go along with two assists, and
Randol also had two steals.

DIVISION I
Hot Shots 34, Tigers 12
Defense, led by Miranda Baker’s eight steals, was the name of the game
for the Hot Shots, who opened up a 30-6 lead in the fourth quarter.
Crystal Perez led the Hot Shots with 12 points, seven rebounds, five
steals and two assists. Crystal Magdaleno had six points, eight rebounds
and three steals, and Kimberly Rhoten had six points and six rebounds.
Baker had a team-high five assists, and Amanda Cecil had six rebounds.
