Club soccer: OCU Sting ends season with convincing win
COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast United Sting, a boys under 19 silver
elite club soccer team, defeated the VUSC, 6-1, Saturday, to finish the
season in third place.
Jeff Kinkopf and B.J. Vandrovec each scored two goals, while Ryan
Lancaster and Chasen Marshall each added single goals for the Sting
(8-3).
Billy Lund, Brendan Fenno and Jordan Christian continued the offensive
pressure, while Bijan Ewalt, David Jenkins, Brian Henry and Jose Perez
each played strong on defense.
In other club soccer action:
The OCU Rush, a girls under 12 team, split its games last weekend,
losing to the Newport Slammers, 2-0, before defeating the Canyon Classic
FC of Anaheim Hills, 2-1.
In the win over Canyon Classic, the Rush’s Courtney Anderson and Cindy
Mendoza each scored goals to spark the offense.
The Rush had solid play come from Robin Ibbetson, Brittany Koster, Amy
Staudinger, Tori Rocke, Jennifer Powell, Samantha Castillo, Ali Torres,
Sasha Key, Chelsea Wisdom, Brianna Baker and Jaque Anderson.
