TODAY
Strings and things. The Hutchins Consort, a group playing acoustically
matched violins, will present the music of Dvorak, Bartok and Mozart,
with special guest Marian Liebowitz, at 8 p.m. at the Newport Harbor

SUNDAY
Jeannie and Jimmy do jazz. Jeannie and Jimmy Cheatham and their Sweet
Baby Blues Band will perform at the Orange County Performing Art Center’s
J.P. Morgan Jazz Club at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. today and Sunday. $44 for the

MONDAY
School spirit. The Newport Beach Central Library’s Teen Center will
display art by Ensign Middle School students and work by digital art
students at Corona del Mar High School throughout the month. The library

TUESDAY
Sophomore spotlight. Orange Coast College piano student Joann Oh will
present her sophomore piano recital at noon Tuesday at OCC’s Music Room
101. The one-hour public recital is free. She will perform Bach’s Prelude
in A Minor, Beethoven’s Rondo in G, Opus 51, No. 2 and Chopin’s Preludes,

WEDNESDAY
Women in black and white. An exhibition of black and white photo
montages by Los Angeles-based artist Christina Fernandez will be on
display through Dec. 14 at Orange Coast College’s Photo Gallery, 2701
Fairview Road, Costa Mesa. Titled “Excerpts From Recent Work,” the
exhibit shows images of women and the artist in a representation of the
connection between Chicanos and Mexico. The gallery is open from 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Free. Fernandez will present a free lecture about her work at
7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 in Room 116 of OCC’s Fine Arts Building. (714) 432-5520.
