Wave Runners rally for 3-2 victory

In the opening round of this year’s AYSO Region 56 girls’ 10-and-Under
Division playoffs, the Wave Runners came from behind Saturday to post a
3-2 victory over Ocean Motion.
Ocean Motion broke to a 2-0 halftime lead, but the Wave Runners
responded in the opening minute of the second half when Kelly O’leary
scored off an Ashley Brown cross to narrow the gap to 2-1.
On the Wave Runners’ next possession, Rachel Pasternak carried the
ball up the left side of the field and dished a pass to O’leary, whose
goal tied the score at 2.
With two minutes remaining in regulation play, the Wave Runners again
turned to O’leary, whose third goal of the game, set up by the ball
control of Diana Lustig and Patty Keleher.
Wave Runner goalkeeper Nicole Goodman preserve the victory with a
second-half shutout.

Nikki Freiborg scored both goals for the Stars (5-1-3).
UNDER-10 DIVISION
Surf City Smackers 5, Galaxy Girls 0
In a first-place tiebreaker played Saturday, the Surf City Smackers
took over the role of division leader by blanking the Galaxy Girls at
Eastwood School. Amy Nunez scored her second hat trick of the season.
Allison Dufault and Breanna Flynn each scored once for the Smackers.
