NMJAAF: Junior Midget Seahawks blank Mission Viejo

The Newport-Mesa Junior All-American Football team (ages 11-13)

opened playoff action with a 30-0 win over Mission Viejo on Saturday.

Trevor Theriot, Patrick Williams, Marc Quarles and Matt Erickson each

scored touchdowns for the Seahawks.

Williams’ touchdown came off a 50-yard pass from quarterback Kasey

Peters.

The offensive line was anchored by Sean Goodman, Ricky Sepulveda,

Anthony Santos, Brent Ogden, Steve Hancock, Pat Hill, Eric Ray and Nathan

Stoneman.

The Seahawks’ defense notched its sixth shutout of the season and was

led by David Del Fante, Ben Maggard, James Coder, Ryan Lance, Nathan

Packer, Jamie Kline, Ryan Breslin and Bijan Ahmadi.

In other NMJAAF action:

Midget Seahawks 46, Riverside Cowboys 12 - The Seahawks (ages 12-14)

finished the regular season 7-2 with the convincing win.

Spencer Link scored three touchdowns, including one on the first play

of the game, to lead the Seahawks.

Quarterback Wes Presson connected with Chris Hernandez on a 40-yard TD

strike as well as Vince Mizurek on a 35-yard score.

Presson also scored on a 20-yard TD run as the Seahawks led from start

to finish.

Clinic Seahawks 27, Orange Chiefs 0 - The Seahawks (ages 8-10) opened

playoff action with a shutout win over Orange.

Kevin Rask ran for an 80-yard touchdown run, while quarterback Jordan

Lusk connected with Danny Moskovits on a 40-yard TD.

The offensive line was led by strong play from Nick Svendsen, Kyle

Chene, Michael Ensign, Andrew Littlefair and Nick Ascheris.

The line opened up huge holes for running backs Scott Chene, Rask,

Woody Yokoyama, Travis Sorenson, Austin Raiger and Bucko Theriot.

The Seahawks’ defense recorded its fifth shutout of the season and was

led by Adrian Luchs, Hunter Alder, Nick Muhler, Kyle Johnson, Joey

Dicaprio, Troy Bundy and Andrew Fulcher.

For the Junior Clinic Seahawks (ages 7-8), they defeated Mission Viejo

and advanced to the second round of the playoffs.

Nick Taormina rushed for three touchdowns, while J.D. Abbott and

Austin Blodgett each scored one TD.

Running backs Parker Norton, Nick Tripi and Mike Taormina each ran

through some big holes, opened up my linemen Chasen Watson, Jake Starnes,

Steve Clapp, Josh Starnes, Trent Anderson, D.J. Hauser and Ryan Hatcher.

On defense, Brett Klein, Buzzy Yokoyama, Hatcher and Abbott each had

fumble recoveries for the Seahawks, while Jamie McKernan made several

hard tackles.
