LETTER OF THE WEEK

On Oct 19, Fountain Valley Mayor Guy Carrozzo detailed the possible

negative effects of the proposed Santa Ana River toll road (“The Orange

Freeway toll road doesn’t hold water”).

This outlandish project would cost taxpayers in order to benefit a

few. In addition, the pollution caused by the traffic would affect the

water and air quality of the neighbors along the river.

Finally, our local coastal wildlife -- like the California least tern,

an endangered species that feeds on fish in the river -- would be

adversely impacted by this misguided project.

Carrozzo and Fountain Valley Councilwoman Laurann Cook have

steadfastly opposed this project. Hopefully, the city of Huntington Beach

and other communities will likewise oppose this latest mistake.
