Pacific Coast Bobby Sox: Riptide hammers Tustin twice

The Riptide, a girls under 15 traveling fastpitch softball team

from the Pacific Coast Bobby Sox, crushed Tustin, 14-4, and, 12-1, Saturday in doubleheader action.

In the opener, Ann Marie Topps hit two doubles and a triple, while

Lauren Gega and Julianne Bass had two hits apiece.

After an Amie Benjamin home run and an RBI double by Darci Pennington

tied the game at 2-2, the Riptide sent 13 batters to the plate and scored

nine times in the fourth inning.

In the second game, the Riptide jumped out to an 11-0 lead after two

innings and never looked back.

Topps went 3 for 5 with five RBIs, while Jennifer Gummerman, Sasha

Grumman and Kelly Pfeifer each added key hits.
