THE ENVIRONMENT
“I have one main mandate: Clean the ocean.”
She emphasizes the economic and social importance of improving and
protecting ocean water quality for Orange County.
McKeon argues that the problem of building adequate sewage treatment
facilities and systems for dealing with urban runoff should not be left
to be paid for by property taxes but should be funded at least in part by
state and federal money.
“If you were in a house that had an overflowing toilet, what would be
your first priority? You’ve got to fix the toilet. It’s so basic.”
CONSERVATIVES AS REPRESENTATIVES
“Marilyn Brewer has done a great job of trying to keep the tax dollars
going out, but it hasn’t helped” to address some of the district’s most
pressing environmental and infrastructure concerns, McKeon said.
She also said she believes Campbell will bring even less money back to
the district than Brewer has and that Orange County will end up being
even more of a donor to state funds than it already is.
“I do not believe that John Campbell is a moderate.”
AIRPORTS
“I really think the answer [to Orange County’s airport demands] is a
light rail project out to Ontario. Why not turn John Wayne into a small
airport that won’t grow?”
McKeon’s Web site features links to an anti-El Toro Web site, which
she suggests viewers visit to “check out the reason the rest of the 70th
is behind Proposition F.”
