Bryan Schutte scored all four of his team’s touchdowns Saturday to

lead the Fountain Valley Jaguars past the Huntington Beach Dolphins,

27-8, in Junior All-American Football Pee Wee Division play at Ocean View

High.

Schutte gained 167 yards rushing on 23 carries behind an offensive

line consisting of Brandon Cooke, Zachary Curtner, Bryan Economy, and

Justin Gunn.

In a game featuring big hits, Huntington Beach got on the scoreboard

first when Logan Martina scored on a 42 yard run, and Michael Clark’s

two-point conversion kick gave the Dolphins an 8-0 lead. But the Jaguars

drew to within 8-7 in the second period on Schutte’s two yard scoring

run.

Huntington Beach had a chance to build upon that lead late in the

first half, but running back Hue Lam was stopped short of the goal line

by Fountain Valley’s Travis McNaughton on the final play of the first

half.

Schutte’s second touchdown run of the game put the Jaguars up, 13-8,

heading into the final quarter, where he scored twice more, the first of

his final two touchdowns being set up by his 64 yard run.

Fountain Valley’s defense was led by Viken Bitar with an interception

in the end zone, Martin Duran with a pair of quarterback sacks, and Mark

Cubberly, Dean Persinger, Justin Dawson, Kyle Wagoner, and Cody Steiner.

Huntington Beach Coach Dave Small praised his team’s play, especially

that of an offensive line consisting of Sean Tierney, Dan Nelson, Michael

Peters, ‘Tonio Small, Andy Claveria, and Justin Garcia.

“This was definitely a hard fought game with a lot of great hits,”

Dave Small said. “Our offensive line played very well for the better part

of the game, and I was especially pleased with (Logan) Martina’s play

today. Fountain Valley has a very good football team and a very good

coach (Mike Perez), and when you combine those kids with their coaching

staff, you definitely have your work cut out for you if you plan on

beating them.”

Huntington Beach came into the game sporting a 1-0-1 record, having beaten the La Mirada Gold Matadores, 32-6, before tying the Orange West

Chiefs, 6-6. Martina started the season with a 146 yard, two touchdown

performance, Taylor Grosso scored two TDs, and Shane Keating returned a

rumble 42 yards for another score in the La Mirada win.

Fountain Valley travels to Garden Grove Saturday to face the Panthers,

while Huntington Beach will visit the Newport-Mesa Seahawks at Bonita

Creek Park.
