AYSO Region 120: RedWings tie Fighting Irish

COSTA MESA - The RedWings and Fighting Irish battled to a 1-1 tie
in AYSO Region 120 boys under 12 soccer action.
Off a nice pass from Kenneth Zich, Nick Ippolito ripped a shot in the
back of the net to lead the RedWings’ offense.
Taylor McClanahan scored in the third quarter to tie the game for the
Fighting Irish.
Offensive support for the RedWings came from Roger Infranca, Marlo
Osorno, Jonathan Scrantom, Josh Berry and Edward Bello, while Nick
Vinson, Nick Straubel, Brandon Esping, Josh Young, Matt Peterka and Angel
Garcia anchored the defense.
The RedWings later lost to the Hawks, 5-3, despite goals from
Ippolito, Infranca and Bello.
In boys under 10 action:
Tigers 2, Blue Jets 2 - For the Tigers, Yacet Acosta and Hector Solis
each scored goals, while Jake Ferris and Austin Berry played solid
defense to preserve the tie.
Gladiators 5, Green Galaxy 4 - The Gladiators’ defense was controlled
by David Felix and Qusai Bhaijeewala, while the Green Galaxy was led by
Adam Gardner and Anthony Lucero.
Gladiators 3, RedWings 0 - Evan Edison, Tony Flores and Rigoberto
Perez each had goals for the Gladiators, while Marc De Frenza and David
Felix anchored the defense.
In boys under 8 action:
The Black Panthers and Purple Rockets each put together an
old-fashioned shootout.
Rockets goalie William Gyorgy was solid in the first half, while C.J.
Arehart played well in the second half.
In girls under 8 action:
In the Blue Stars game last week, Amanda Wilson, Megan Crosson and
Taylor Kunst played well defensively, while Kelly Whalen, Amanda
Wisiewski, Taylor Thompson, Lauren Nieger and Alissa Schaefer led the
offensive attack.
In girls under 6 action:
The Tango Mango played a solid game against the Powderpuff Girls.
Oliva Simms, Jackie Tanner and Cadee Cheek played solid offense for
the Tango Mango, while Sara Hughes, Devon Mitchell and Irene Rico were
solid defensively.
