Girls 10 and UnderHB AYSO region 56 soccer -- Wave Runners 6,
Gators 1
In AYSO Region 56 girls 10-and-under soccer action, the Wave Runners
beat the Gators, 6-1, at Peterson Field. Led by the strong defense of
Alexa Enlow, Amanda Stoddard and goalie Nicole Goodman, the Gators were
held to one goal.
For the Wave Runners, Kelly O’Leary scored five goals on assists from
Amy Rogers, Jade Pearson, Catherine Vasquez, Patty Keleher and Rachel
Pasternak.
Diana Lustig added another goal for the Wave Runners.
GIRLS AYSO REGION 56, SOUTH HB 10 AND UNDER
In the opening game of the AYSO Region 56 girls 10 and under soccer
action, the Wave Runners battled the Pink Pandas to a 2-2 tie.
The Pink Pandas opened the scoring early in the first half. The Wave
Runners responded quickly as Alexa Enlow pushed the ball up the field to
Amanda Stoddard, who passed to an open Patty Keleher, who tied the score
at 1-1. The Wave Runners responded once again as Catherine Vasquez
intercepted a Pink Panda pass and passed to Rachel Pasternak, who
centered the ball for a Kelly O’Leary goal.
Once again, the Pink Pandas answered with a quick goal and the strong
defense of Laura Ogawa halted the Wave Runners. The goaltending of the
Panda’s Amy Hayes kept a late rush from Amy Stoddard and Diana Lustig,
preserving a 2-2 tie. In the net for the Wave Runners were Nicole Goodman
and Ashley Brown.
AYSO REGION 5 FOUNTAIN VALLEY/WESTMINSTER (saturday, sept.16)
U-10 BOYS: STORM 5, GREEN SCORPIONS 1
Richie Unfried was the star of the game scoring two goals and
assisting on another to lead the Storm to victory. Garrett Fuller scored
two goals and Michael Harkins scored once to spark the offense. Joey
Reyes had a strong game, scoring the lone goal to lead the Green
Scorpions attack, while Jacob Frazier and Joseph Morris also played well.
FIREBALLS 1, DRAGONS 1
The Fireballs continually attacked the goals and narrowly missed
several good scoring changes and settled for a 0-0 tie at the half. James
D’Agostino broke through to score giving the Fireballs a 1-0 lead.
Matthew Ord came right back to score the game-tieing goal for the
Dragons. Abdiel Luna, Angel Brito and Tyler Buckles were outstanding for
the Fireballs. Chris Gierhart and Sean Miller played well for the
Dragons.
THUNDERBOLTZ 9, VIPERS 0
Augie Carbajal was the star of the game, scoring four goals to lead
the Thundeboltz to an easy win. Brennan Harris, Seth Binegar, Dalton
Daniels, Joshua Walter and Gabriel Rubio also tallied goals. Jacob
Eimsenberg, Joe Catillo and Armando Mendoza played well in a losing
effort.
AYSO REGION 143 (WESTMINSTER/HUNTINGTON BEACH) RESULTS
DIVISION 3/ADVANCED PLAYER PROGRAM -- Girls under 14
The AYSO Region 143 Huntington Beach Stars began the Fall 2000 season
successfully, with a 3-1 win over Bellflower, followed by a 3-0 shutout
over North Irvine.
In both games, it was a strong defensive effort for the Stars, with
the only goal coming from a penalty shot. Loren Kortizija opened the
scoring in the first game as Alexandra Jaspers and Whitney Thornton also
tallied goals.
Against North Irvine, Laurne Peaslee scored two goals and Whitney
Thornton the third as Gena Johnson recorded several key saves preserving
the shutout as goalkeeper. Other members of the team include Ashley
Beanblossom, Heather Bystrom, Kristin Coleman, Nikki Freiborg, Ann
Ludolph, Caitlin McGinnish, Hilary Pohlman, Lindsey Rodgers, Lauren
Swensen and Emily Tims.
WAVE BATTLES IRVINE TO A 2-2 TIE
CFC the Wave, a boys U11 Club soccer team from Fountain Valley, tied
the Irvine Strkiers, 2-2. The Wave and the Strikers traded the lead
several times on their way to the tie. Alex Loeffelman scored for the
Wave, with an assist from Jon Birt, and Mason Miller scored a solo goal.
The Wave remains undefeated after is first two games of the Coast Soccer
League season.
