Jaguars fall to Cowboys, 14-6

The Mission Viejo Cowboys scored early in the first quarter on the
Jaguars to take a 6-0 lead. The PAT attempt was blocked by Joshua Perez.
The Jaguars responded on the ensuing possession, capped by a 35-yard
touchdown pass from Shane Webber to Viken Bitar. The PAT attempt failed
wih the score tied at 6-6.
The Jaguar defense lead by Eric Ceja, Justin Dawson, Eric Faamausili,
Andrew Schneider and Travis McNaughton kept the Cowboy offense at bay for
the remainder of the game with the other Cowboys’ score coming on an
interception.
The Jaguar offense was able to move on Cowboy defense with sustained
drives on the carries of Isaiah Romero and Bryan Schutte. The turning
point in the game came when the Jaguars fumbled on the Cowboy one-yard
line in the fourth quarter. The Jaguars fought to the end with Michael
Berber forcing a Cowboy fumble with 1:27 left in the game and no time
outs remaining. The Jaguars just fell short of getting the opportunity to
tie the score. The Jaguars travel to Huntington Beach next week to face
the Dolphins.
JAGUARS CLINIC BULLS ITS WAY PAST THE THE MATADORS, 25-6
The Jaguar offense took a smashmouth approach, controlling the front
line. Led by center Andy Palacios and linemen Paul Fernandez, Ryan
McNicol, Scott Rychlik and Nicco Boggio, who helped open up the running
attack led by Stephan Robb and Matt Empting who each had a touchdown.
The Jaguar Air Attack also came to life led by quarterback Bryce Blake
who passed for more than 100 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown pass to
Trenton Burns, which was made possible by a key block from Chris Martinez
to open up the lane for the touchdown.
The defense played the ultimate team game by getting contributions
from every position in order to hold the Matadors to less than 50 total
yards on offense.
JAGUARS CLINIC SQUEAK BY THE CHIEFS, 21-20.
The Jaguar offense came out in a roar led by quarterback Bryce Blake
and big runs by Matt Empting and Stephan Robb, and capped with a 20-yard
touchdown run by Trenton Burns, which put the Jaguars up, 7-0. The
Chiefs’ defense tightened, but so did the Jaguar defense. Blake came up
with a huge hit at the end of the second quarter, which caused a fumble
that Burns picked up and scampered 45 yards for the Jaguars’ second
touchdown.
Their third score was set by an interception by Matt James who
returned the ball 40 yards to the Chiefs’ 15-yard line. The offense took
over and Empting took the ball in from three yards out for the clincher.
PEE WEE FOUNTAIN VALLEY JAGUARS SCALP ORANGE CHIEFS
The Jaguars opened up their 2000 season with a 48-0 trouncing of the
Orange (East) Chiefs. The Jaguar ground assault led by the offensive line
blocking of Brennan Boano, Eric Ceja, Brandon Cooke, Zachary Curtner,
Bryan Economy, Wayne Glisson, Justin Gunn, Kevin Loyola, Coby Mason and
Brian Verschueren provided for three touchdowns on three carries by Bryan
Schutte, with Travis McNaughton, Isaiah Romero and Freddie Estrada each
scoring a touchdown.
Dean Persinger scored the Jaguars’ extra point, and its “never-outhit”
defense held the Chiefs to negative total yards.
