Hoop-It-Up

Today is the last day to sign up for Hoop-It-Up, the 3-on-3

basketball tournament of the NBA and NBC sports that will be at the

Orange County Fair and Expo Center, Sept. 23-24.

Players must form teams of up to four members (includes one

substitute) and will then be placed in divisions with others of similar

age, height and playing ability.

Teams can register for Orange County Hoop-It--Up online at

https://www.hoopitup.com/ or https://www.eoSports.com/ or call

1-888-977-PLAY to receive registration information. Forms for discounted

team entry are available at area Foot Locker stores. The entry fee is

$108 for each team and that guarantees each team at least three scheduled

games.

The playing division levels range from recreational to Top Gun

(college experience or better), including children age 10 and younger,

teens 17 and younger, and players over 35.

Tournament organizers expect more than 2,400 area basketball players

to compete on the 60 courts set up at the O.C. Fair and Expo Center.

The 3-on-3 play begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, ending at approximately 5

p.m. Sunday games take place from 9 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. Referees

will be on all courts during both days. Spectator admission is free.

In addition to the tournament action, the event will also feature

other activities including 2-on-2 completion, a 10-foot slam dunk

contests, and a three-point shootout.

Hoop-It-Up is the basketball tour that is making its eighth annual

stop in Orange County. The 2000 tour will cover more that 40 U.S. cities.

“Hoop-It-Up has become the most popular basketball tour going, and I’m

always excited by the quality of competition that I see,” said Steve

“Snapper” Jones, NBA on NBC sports analyst, who has appeared on the

“Hoop-It-Up on NBC” broadcasts since 1991.

Winners of the men’s and women’s Top Gun divisions advance to the

Hoop-It-Up World Championships, where the top two team go head-to-head

with NBA Legends and WNBA players such as James Worthy and Cynthia

Cooper. The “Court of Dreams” championship is a part of the annual

“Hoop-It-Up on NBC” television special.
