Club soccer: OCU Sting breaks even in opening contests

SAN BERNARDINO - The Orange County Sting, a boys under 19 elite
club soccer team, opened the 2000 season last weekend with a win and a
loss.
On Saturday morning, the Sting, despite a goal by Ryan Lancaster and
an assist by Jeff Kinkopf, lost to the Blast, 2-1.
On Sunday morning against the West Covina Soccer Club, Chris Baez,
Bijan Ewalt, Brian Walton, David Jenkins and Scott Nickerson led the
Sting’s defense and kept the game close.
B.J. Vandrovec scored two goals, while Walton added another in the
Sting’s 3-2 win.
The goals were made possible by a solid effort from offensive players
Jose Perez, Chasen Marshall, Justin Collins, Brendan Fenno, Billy Lund
and Jordan Christian.
