Women’s water polo: Pirates fall to Rustlers

HUNTINGTON BEACH - The Orange Coast College women’s water polo team
threw a panic into the hearts of host Golden West, but in the end, the
three-time defending state champs prevailed, 5-3, Wednesday afternoon in
the Orange Empire Conference opener for both schools.
OCC led, 2-0, on goals by Katie Sackett and Christine McDonald. The
Pirates, 3-2 overall, led for nearly three quarters, but the Rustlers,
106-1-1 since 1997, rallied to win.
Devon Wright also scored for OCC, while Erin Kennedy (Newport Harbor
High) had five saves in goal.
