According to South Coast Optometry, 8% of the male world population is
color vision-deficient. Last November, ColorMax lenses received clearance
from the Food and Drug Administration as an aid in treatment of color
vision deficiencies. These high-technology lenses cannot cure color
blindness but can be used as an aid in most cases, as in red-green color
vision deficiency. At South Coast Optometry, you can have a complete
color vision analysis with computerized ColorMax Technologies Color Test
Software and see if ColorMax lenses can help you. The costs are as
follows: A Color Vision work-up with no eye exam is $150; a Color Vision
work-up including an eye exam is $219; a ColorMax Lens Process is $699 a
pair (cost of frame and clear lenses are extra). If you’re interested in
the ColorMax lenses, they can order the tested lens in your prescription
as a nonprescription clip-on over your prescription glasses, or as
nonprescription glasses over your contact lenses. South Coast Optometry
is at South Coast Plaza, 3333 Bristol St., Costa Mesa. Information: (714)
