1. THE HORSE’S MOUTH: The Orange County Fairgrounds & Exposition
Center will present a Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Show from 8 a.m. to 5
p.m. today through Sunday at the Equestrian Center, 88 Fair Drive. Enter

2. SUMMER FINALE: Summer might be officially over, but block
parties are still in season. The Balboa Merchants and Owners Assn. is
hosting its Bay to Beach Block Party from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The
event, free and open to the public, will take place on the Balboa
Peninsula at the point where the ferry, the Pavilion and the Balboa Pier
meet. There will be live music, food vendors’ displays and a sidewalk
sale.
3. FAMILY FUNCTION: It’s still warm enough for a picnic, too. Catch
the fading rays of summer at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church’s
neighborhood family picnic from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Mariners Park in
Newport Beach, at the corner of Dover Drive and Irvine Avenue. Cost is
