Shopping center installs tiles painted by children
- Share via
Fashion Island was spiced up with an injection of color Thursday as
workers installed nearly 150 tiles children had painted during the
center’s Art of Spring event.
A portion of the proceeds from the tiles, which cost $100 to paint, go to the Orange County Museum of Art.
Kids have been painting similar tiles for the past decade, said Jane
Gillespie, a spokeswoman for Fashion Island, adding that the new tiles
would push the number of miniature children’s paintings on the center’s
grounds to well over 1,000.
Combined with proceeds from the summer concert series, the museum
recently received a check for $8,000 from the fund-raising activities at
the center, Gillespie said.
