Actor Lou Diamond Phillips and restaurateur Antonio Cagnolo honored an

Orange County family Thursday for its fund-raising and public awareness

efforts on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Southern

California.

Myron and Carol Kanofsky, along with daughter Megan, were honored at a

luncheon at Antonello Ristorante in Costa Mesa for dedicating themselves

to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis. The Kanofsky’s daughter, Sarah,

was diagnosed with the disease in 1987. She died in 1997.

The luncheon was a precursor to La Dolce Vita 2000, an annual

fund-raiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event will be held at

6 p.m. Sept. 24 at the South Coast Plaza Village Green adjoining

Antonello Ristorante, 3333 Bristol St., Costa Mesa. Tickets are $135 per

Orange Tie 2000 tickets on sale

Tickets are on sale for Orange Coast College’s Orange Tie 2000, which

will raise funds for the construction of a new Arts Pavilion on campus.

The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to midnight Oct. 14 at the Hyatt

Regency Irvine. Tickets are $125 each and are available at OCC’s

OCC symphony highlights work of Brahms

Orange Coast College’s Symphony Orchestra will present the symphonies

of Johannes Brahms to celebrate its 40th anniversary season. The opening

concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 will spotlight Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 in C

minor, Op. 68 and will include Rossini’s overture to “The Thieving

Magpie” and a new opera by Russian composer Youri Kazarian. The concert

will be held at OCC’s Robert B. Moore Theatre, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa
