Harbor Boulevard: A male customer at Nata’Le Gourmet Coffee pulled a
fast one on a hapless employee and tricked the cashier into giving him
$245 in change between 11:15 and 11:30 a.m. Aug. 22.
West Baker Street: Someone snatched a backpack from a man visiting
from Japan as he checked out of the Residence Inn at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 18.
Inside the bag was his passport, wallet and camera, together valued at
$390.
NEWPORT BEACH
Irvine Avenue: A person playing golf in the 3100 block reported a $200
cell phone missing at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Irvine Avenue/Dover Drive: A hungry man tried to buy some food but was
forced to fast after he realized he had lost his wallet between 7 p.m.
Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mariners Park.
Mar Vista: Maybe there was a little emergency. Someone stole a diaper
bag from a car parked in the 200 block Wednesday between 8:30 and 9 a.m.
The bag and its contents were valued at $100.
