CORONA DEL MAR -- A bicyclist suffered a broken leg after he was
struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon on Pacific Coast Highway near Dahlia
Street.
At about 4:30 p.m., Dan Brian Smith, 41, of Huntington Beach, was
riding north on his bicycle when he collided with the opening door of a
parked white Volkswagen Cabriolet. He then swerved into traffic,
officials said.
Smith was then stuck by a black Land Rover, which was also heading
north.
Smith suffered a compound fracture to his lower left leg and multiple
abrasions. Officials said the cyclist may also have sustained internal
injuries, but that they are not life-threatening. He was treated at Hoag
Hospital.
