COSTA MESA
* Harbor Boulevard: A very hungry patron smashed a $300 glass cover on
the drive-through menu at Burger King in the 2000 block between midnight
at 4 p.m. Aug. 7.
* Harbor Boulevard: Someone stole $1,000 worth of tools from Mesa
Upholstery in the 1900 block between 4 and 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
NEWPORT BEACH
* Placentia Avenue: Disgruntled residents of the Ebb Tide Mobile Home
Park are suspected of turning a garden hose loose in the manager’s office
in the 1500 block between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 10:30 a.m. Thursday,
causing $130 in damages.
* Morning Canyon: Someone who was perhaps unhappy with the gardener
stole a $700 leaf blower and hedge trimmer from the back of a pickup
truck in the 400 block around 10 a.m. Monday.
* West Ocean Front: Probably distracted by all the girls in bikinis,
someone misplaced a cellular phone and Palm Pilot cradle valued at $262
in the 6200 block at noon Monday.
* Miramar Drive: Someone swiped a $180 cellular phone through the open
window of a car parked in the 1700 block between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 7
a.m. Thursday.
* Westcliff Drive: An intruder attempting to whip up their own
breakfast at Haute Cakes Cafe in the 1800 block fled when startled by
employees coming to work at 4:40 a.m. Sunday.
* Balboa Cove: Someone obviously listening to too much Howard Stern
left obscene messages at a residence in the 40 block around 7:25 p.m.
