Dent to face Agassi again

LOS ANGELES - Newport Beach’s Taylor Dent, 19, will face Andre

Agassi in tonight’s featured match in the first round of the main draw in

the Mercedes-Benz Cup, the Association of Tennis Professionals’ Tour stop

at the Los Angeles Tennis Center at UCLA.

Agassi withdrew from the U.S. Davis Cup team last week because of a

back injury, suffered in a minor car accident the day he returned to his

home in Las Vegas from Wimbledon. It’s a possibility the top-seeded

Agassi will not make his match against Dent tonight.

Dent, a Corona del Mar High product, earned a wild card into the

Mercedes-Benz Cup for the second straight year. Dent, the 1996 CIF

Southern Section singles champion as a freshman, lost to Agassi last

month in the first round at Wimbledon.
