Fountain Valley will hold its second Neighborhood Pride Day in the La
Colonia Juarez area starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The city will provide 12 trash bins throughout the six-block area to
help with the event. A hazardous waste contractor also will go door to
door to pick up items such as antifreeze, paints and old motor oil.
“The philosophy behind the event is from more of a preservation point
of view,” said Chris Corbin, a city housing coordinator. “This is a
historically diverse area that the city wants preserved and is proactive
in.”
The city said it plans to enhance the environment and beautify the
area by planting trees. Trees can be requested by contacting Ida Fitch at
(714) 593-4440.
In appreciation of all the hard work, the city plans to provide free
hamburgers and sodas in the afternoon.
