MISSION VIEJO - The Pacific Coast Bobby Sox Girls Fastpitch 10 and
under softball team dropped two tough games in the District All-Star
Tournament last weekend.
In the first game, West Fullerton defeated Pacific Coast, 8-5. Pacific
Coast could not overcome first-game jitters and the loss of team leader
Rachel Cox, who suffered a broken arm.
Lindsay Fry, Christie Mead, Jessica Knight and Caley Beltran were the
offensive stars for Pacific Coast getting on base consistently. Elena
Redelsheimer and Kristen Benjamin providing solid pitching early in the
game for Pacific Coast.
In the second game, Pacific Coast came back and tied the game at 2-2
in the fifth inning. But Buena Park retook the lead late in the game for
a 3-2 win.
Amber Easton led off the fifth with a single, and Alexandra Elias
brought her home to tie the game. Elias, Katie Reagan and Rachel Parker
made several good defensive plays to keep Pacific Coast in the game.
Pitchers Redelsheimer, Benjamin and Parker shut down Buena Park for most
of the game.
Pacific Coast will compete in the Regional Tournament this weekend at
Chula Vista in an attempt to qualify for the Nationals on July 27.
