MISSION VIEJO - Newport Beach’s Pacific Coast Bobby Sox 12 and
under All-Star “Blue” softball team went undefeated through four games in
its regional qualifier at Mission Del Norte last weekend to advance to
the National Tournament, which starts on July 26 at Buena Park.
The Pacific Coast’s “Blue” team, along with its “Red” squad, are the
second and third national representatives in the history of Pacific Coast
softball.
Pacific Coast Blue defeated Buena Park, 13-8, in the championship
game. Morgan Jones, Catherine Dailey and Hillary Ockey each had two hits
for Pacific Coast Blue.
In fact, the entire Pacific Coast Blue team, Katelin Patterson, Kelly
Topps, Shannon Rockett, Katie Joslyn, Holly Van Hiel, Michelle Tolfa,
Clea O’Kieffe, Heather Fuga and Amanda Billing, each had at least one hit
in the championship victory.

started it off with a single. O’Kieffe then laid down a perfect bunt
single.
After another runner got on, Ockey delivered a bases-loaded double to
put Pacific Blue up for good. It was her second double of the day. Jones
pitched the last three innings to preserve Pacific Coast Blue’s victory.
In its first game, Pacific Coast Blue pulled out a 6-5 victory over
West Fullerton. In the fourth, Topps made a nice shoestring catch and
doubled up a runner at second to stop a West Fullerton rally.
Pacific Coast Blue beat Buena Park, 13-8, in its second game.It came
back from a 7-1 deficit with nine runs in the fourth. Fifteen Pacific
Coast Blue batters went to the plate in that inning.
