FULLERTON - The Corona del Mar Pony All-Star (13 year-olds)
baseball team is still alive in the 13 year-old Pony District Sectional
Baseball Tournament, following Tuesday’s 11-7 win over Garden Grove at
Amerige Park.
CdM used a five-run fifth inning to overcome a 2-1 deficit. Wes
Presson knocked in two runs with a sharp single to center to cap the
five-run frame.
Presson later added a sacrifice fly, while Grant Almquist, despite
playing with a broken hand, went 1 for 2 with two walks.
T.J. Bernardy ripped a two-run single to highlight CdM’s sixth inning
fireworks.
Blake Allred also drove in two runs with a double to center field,
scoring Matt Busch and Matt Silva.
The top two teams from both the winners and losers brackets will
advance to the Regional Tournament. CdM must win tonight and Sunday to
advance.
CdM’s first hurdle is East Hills tonight at 5 p.m. at Amerige Park.
