NBLL AA: Diamondbacks avoid mammoth rally from Angels

NEWPORT BEACH - The Diamondbacks jumped out to a 10-1 lead, then

held on for dear life to win, 12-11, in the second round of the Newport

Beach Little League AA Division playoffs last weekend.

Hunter Alder and Matt Morris led the D-Backs with a double and two

singles each, helping the club jump out to a 10-1 lead after five

innings.

Alder pitched three scoreless innings, striking out seven, while Bryan

Yasukochi, Anna Palchikoff and Hayley Alder each scored three runs.

For the Angels, Matt Steinberg pitched well in the middle innings and had

a key hit in the team’s nine-run sixth inning. Other key hits came from

Nick Kline and Michael Epstein.
