Yankees storm back to stun Angels, 9-8

The Yankees were all but dead Saturday against the Angels, trailing

8-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.

It was there that the Yanks scored seven runs to force extra innings,

then won it with two out in the seventh when Anthony Paterno’s RBI single

scored Kyle Campana with the winning run for an improbable 9-8 victory in

Minor A Division play at Seaview Little League.

Campana, Kyle Hammontree, and Ian Gould all had key hits in the sixth

inning to spark the Yankee comeback.

Matt Seymour went 3 for 5 to lead the Angels.

In other games:

Mariners 9, Rockies 0

Held scoreless by Rockies pitcher Jake Burke for the first three innings,

the Mariners erupted for five runs in the fourth and four more in the

fifth. Jamie Martin went 3 for 3, Carl Eberts hit a home run, and Mariner

pitchers Ebert and Aaron Amaral combined to no-hit the Rockies until the

fifth inning, where Burke spoiled the attempt with a leadoff single. Nick

Duchene later doubled for the only other Rockies hit.

Pirates 4, Dodgers 2

Pitchers Bryan Kobylka and Justin Isbell combined for the victory by

striking out nine to lead the Pirates; Brian Griffin had two hits for the

Dodgers.
