Convertibles highlighted in TV shoot
-- Eron Ben-Yehuda
HUNTINGTON BEACH -- A television crew shot a feature titled “Hot
Convertibles of Summer” at Pier Plaza Wednesday morning.
The five-minute feature, highlighting some of the latest cars, was
broadcast to 21 news stations around the country, production manager
Diane Wyluda said.
Her company, High Impact TV of Newport Beach, paid the city $650 for the
right to set up from 12:30 to 10 a.m. at the plaza by Main Street and
Pacific Coast Highway, city officials said.
Many stations -- including ones in Florida, Michigan and Oklahoma --
picked up the feed largely because Surf City served as the backdrop,
Wyluda said.
“That was a real good pitch,” she said.
This isn’t the first time the city has capitalized on its image. There
were seven film crews in the city last weekend, said Barbara Schultz, an
administrator at the community services department.
“They’re always filming,” she said.
