Ocean View High School senior Justin Ambrose received a scholarship from
Toyota Motor Corp. to attend Toyota’s Technician Training School.
Ambrose became eligible for the scholarship because he received high
marks on the Orange County Automotive Dealers Assn. test. For the test,
he created his own automobile wiring schematic and had to find as many as
30 technical difficulties within a 70-minute period on a completely
computerized 2000 Volkswagen Beetle.
Ambrose is enrolled in the Regional Occupational Program through Ocean
View and is taking the Automotive Technology Internship class. His future
plans include serving in the Marine Corps for four years before attending
flight school to become a pilot.
Huntington Beach girl
wins with Model U.N.
Cal Poly Pomona student Stefanie Hedlund of Huntington Beach received the
Distinguished Delegation honor along with her Model United Nations
teammates during the annual National Model United Nations conference. The
15-member collegiate team represented Finland and received briefings at
the Finnish Consulate in Los Angeles.
Student art on display at college
The Fine Arts Gallery at Golden West College is showcasing more than 90
works from more than 100 art students through Friday. The works include
ceramics, wood, clay and digital imagery. Admission is free. Gallery
hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 6 to 9 p.m.
