1. WOMEN’S CONFERENCE: The 2000 Women’s International Conference
will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel, 686
Anton Blvd., Costa Mesa. The three-day event will feature author Fay
Angus; Kathleen Hart, chaplain to student wives at Fuller Theological
Seminary; and Tammy Tkach, women’s ministry support coordinator for the

2. CULINARY ARTS AT OCC: A national competition for young
apprentice chefs will be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in OCC’s
culinary arts department, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa. The event,
sponsored by the International Gourmet Society and La Chaine des
Rotisseurs, will feature 10 apprentices representing community colleges,
private schools and chefs’ associations. Gourmet chefs from throughout

3. BACK COUNTRY HIKE: Crystal Cove State Park will hold a “Back
Country Hike” at 9 a.m. Sunday. Visitors meet at El Moro Visitor Center
on Pacific Coast Highway just north of Laguna Beach. The program is free;
