weekend as the third event of the Series’ 2000 season unfolds today and
Sunday at the River Jetties.
The competition is a single rated event and features a $1,000 first place

“We’re looking forward to another great event,” HB Surf Series’ Seth
Matson said. “We have some great competitors set, and the weather this
weekend should be great.”
The Pro/Am event will feature some of the world’s top professional
surfers and local Southern California amateurs competing in fun,
barreling shore break.
Top Pro/Am competitors, who will compete Sunday, entered in the division
include Chris Drummy, Jeff and Barry Deffenbaugh, Edison High standout
Tim Reyes, Chris Ward, Richie Collins, Seth Elmer, Jay Larson, Matt
Archbold, Cordell Miller, Wyatt Simmons, Mike Hoisington, Jeff Hurley,
Adam Virs, Billy Oswald, Laka Burgess, Brandon Tipton, and many more.
Drummy already has garnered $2,000 in the previous two Surf Series
events, while Reyes, a senior at Edison, has earned $1,000.
Amateur surfers will compete today in seven different divisions: Super

Following Sunday’s competition, an awards ceremony will be held at
Chimayo’s at the Pier beginning at 7:30 p.m. Following the ceremony, the
popular HB Surf Series raffle will take place. This weekend’s top prize
is a custom D-Baugh Surfboard.
The HB Pro/Am Surf Series will donate the first $30 dollars of each
