FEEDBACK
Albertson’s paint job
I agree with the lease story in the Pilot today that the paint color
of the new Albertson’s store is absolutely awful (“Fresh paint gets
rotten response,” May 4). It stands out like a sore thumb, but then what
do we expect from city planners that also allow Autobistro and the
Speedway, but I think perhaps we ought to look at our city planning and
zoning regulations a little tighter. SANDRA BASMACIYAN

I feel sorry for anybody who doesn’t have anything better to do with
their life than worry about what color a new building is painted. I think
maybe Brierley needs to move to Irvine where they paint everything the
same colors. She should be thankful that she doesn’t live in the slums
and where they actually renovate buildings here and take the time to put
fresh paint on a building. I think Albertson’s did a wonderful job with
the renovation. It was an absolute disaster before they renovated it. I
think they did a wonderful job and should be commended.

To Suzie Brierley, who has taken the time and effort to collect
signatures in protest of the color of paint of a grocery store, I can
only say: “Get a life!”
There are so many organizations, associations, groups and causes that
have meaningful importance and impact on people’s lives that I find her
misguided energies a sad commentary.
Protesting over a paint color seems a perfect example of “small things
bothering small minds.”

I think Suzie Brierley is color blind. Albertson’s store is indicative
of the old missions and it has the mission tiles in it. If she doesn’t
like it, maybe she should move somewhere else or shop somewhere else. I
think [the Daily Pilot] should do another article about how many
residents really think the color is helpful and the best thing that has
happened to Corona del Mar in years, and maybe Suzie can move out of
town.

Parking of recreational vehicles
I fully support the residents of Mesa del Mar who are tired of RV’s
being stored on their streets (“Take your RV and park it -- elsewhere,”
April 26). Not only are they unsightly, well kept or not, they are a
major safety hazard -- especially where children are present. Why is it
our two neighboring cities can enforce their code regarding this issue
with such success? Could it be that the freedom our city has, that
Councilman Erickson likes so much, is directly responsible for the blight
currently plaguing our West Side?
If his ambivalence toward such neighborhood issues is any indication
of the attitude our City Council holds, we are certainly in need of new
representatives.

I am responding to your article regarding the RVs. I totally agree
with them. I think that these RVs, especially the ones up here in the
Bluffs, are beginning to make our streets look like a parking lot for
these people. It decreases property values. It makes the neighborhood
look very tacky. And it also makes for unsafe driving conditions. I
really think that if these people cannot afford private parking
facilities for these RVs they should not purchase them.
