Smisko, Devil Rays hand Mets initial loss, 3-1

Devil Rays pitcher Kevin Smisko scattered five hits over six

innings and struck out 13 batters along the way to lead his team to a 3-1

victory over the first half champion Mets in Fountain Valley Little

League Minor A Division action at Mile Square Park.

The setback was the first of the season for the Mets.

Smisko also helped his own cause with a single and double, and Jake

Hyland doubled with two RBI to lead the Devil Rays on offense.

Andrew Stadnick had two hits for the Mets.

Dodgers 3, Reds 2

Joseph Green singled and scored the winning run in the bottom of the

fifth inning, and John Spirk singled and tripled for the Dodgers; Joe

Fried, Doug Hansen, and Mitch Myers all had hits for the Reds.

Angels 12, Orioles 10

Doug Frenchak led the Halos with a triple and two RBI, Skyler Winston

tripled and scored three runs, Mitchell Tezak had an RBI single, and

Garrett James doubled; Aaron Malais led the Orioles with a single,

double, and two RBI, Trevor Dalbey singled twice with an RBI, and Andre

Brown had an RBI single.

Yankees 11, Diamondbacks 0

Matt Hernandez tripled and singled with two RBI, Gordon Edwards tripled

with two RBI, and Geoff Feltman and Drew Adams each singled twice to lead

the Yankees; Matt James and doubled and Jonathan Telles singled twice for

the Diamondbacks.

MINOR B DIVISION

Royals 10, Mets 9

Scott Baker belted a two-run home run and an RBI single, Zack LaMantain

singled and doubled with an RBI, and Mike Coelho had an RBI double for

the Royals; Neil Mira tripled with two RBI and Chris Hale, AJ Cardenalli,

and David Elliot each had an RBI single for the Mets.

Angels 9, Braves 8

Magic Lucio singled three times with an RBI, Jakob Landmon singled twice,

and Andy Palacios tripled in the Angels’ come-from-behind victory; Alfred

Holliman singled and tripled with an RBI, and John Webb, Cheyne Taylor,

and Marty Levers each singled with an RBI for the Braves.

Reds 9, Dodgers 3

Matt Ord tripled and had two RBI, Mohammed Alasker doubled twice, and

Mike Elmore singled, had an RBI, and scored three runs for the Reds;

Brittany Schutte singled twice and Austin Fellenz had a hit and RBI for

the Dodgers.

Devil Rays 14, Yankees 8

Nick Loukides paved the way for the Devil Rays with two singles, a

double, and an RBI, and David Self singled and doubled; Cody Morad

singled twice to lead the Yankees.
