World War II-era bombers meet aviation art in a 65-foot, 45,000-pound
B-24 Liberator that will fly into John Wayne Airport today.
“The Dragon and His Tail,” named for the colorful dragon clutching a
damsel in distress that is painted on the bomber, will be part of a
three-day display. A B-17 Flying Fortress, named “Nine-O-Nine,” will also
be on display.
The show will take place near Signature Flight Support from 3 to 6:30
p.m. today, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, and from 8:30 a.m. to
2 p.m. Thursday. To reach the display location, which is near, but not
next to Signature Aviation, follow the posted signs from Campus Drive.
Tours of the airplanes will be available for a donation of $7 for adults
and $3 for children. Flights are also available for a donation of $350.
For more information on the display, call Signature Aviation at (949)
263-5800.
