ORANGE COAST COLLEGE -- A new dean of literature and languages will join

the administration July 1.

Michael Mandelkern comes from the College of New Rochelle’s Brooklyn

campus, where he worked as chairman of the humanities department. He has

more than 12 years of teaching experience at the college level and his

expertise spills into film, script writing and 18th century studies.

Mandelkern chose to teach English composition each semester at the

College of New Rochelle in order to stay connected to the students. He

hopes to teach a similar course each semester at OCC. But for the first

term, Mandelkern wants to spend his time getting acquainted with the

college.
