CORONA DEL MAR - The Corona del Mar High School freshman
Interscholastic Equestrian League team ended the season on a high note.
With a team composed of four eighth-grade students and one seventh-grade
student, CdM was able to capture the Reserve championship in the freshman
division.
The team members are Elyse Avila, Sydney Farrer, Julia Koetting, Whitney
Roy and Anne Schroeder.
Never at full strength, CdM nevertheless excelled in fields of up to 50
schools.
At the year-end show, Koetting and Schroeder were the only girls able to
compete. The girls showed in Hunt Seat Equitation, English Pleasure,
Equitation Over Fences, Working Hunters and IEL Medal. The competition in
the IEL Medal class was for the championship of the year.
The riders had to qualify at the other shows in order to be able to be in
the championship show. Schroeder was this year’s winner. Koetting won the
Hunt Seat Equitation class.
At the year-end banquet, Koetting was champion of the Hunt Seat and
Working Hunters classes. She also won the Reserve Championship of
Individual Points.
