Prep swimming: Sailors sweep Woodbridge

NEWPORT BEACH - Newport Harbor High senior Paul Kepner won two

individual events and host Sailors won 10 of 11 events to trounce Sea

View League visitor Woodbridge, 115-17, in boys swimming action Tuesday.

Kepner won the 200-yard freestyle and the 100 butterfly and was also on

the winning 400 free relay to help the Tars improve to 3-1, 2-1 in

league.

Caine Litrell, Steve Jendrusina, Kurt Thayer, Peter Belden and Brandon

McClain also won individual events for the hosts.

In the girls meet, Nicole Mackey and Hayley Peirsol each won two

individual events to pace the Sailors to a 111-56 triumph over the

Warriors.

Mackey’s winning time in the 500 free (5:03.3) bettered the top time

posted in Orange County heading into Tuesday (5:30.9).

The Harbor girls improve to 2-2, 1-2.
