Twenty is lucky number for Mariners

The Mariners rolled to a pair of Minor A victories during the past

week, scoring 20 runs in both triumphs in action at Seaview Little

League.

In beating the Royals, 20-9, Patrick Cox went 3 for 4 with a home run in

the fifth inning, Aaron Amaral went 4 for 4, Jamie Martin finished 3 for

4, and pitcher Carl Eberts threw a complete game victory.

Duvat Kovrosh hit a three-run home run and Chance Ross went 3 for 3 to

lead the Royals.

The Mariners began their week with a 20-1 rout of the Rockies, with

Amaral getting the pitching win on two hits and seven strikeouts. Johnny

McCarty closed out the game, allowing just two hits with four strikeouts.

Offensively, Eberts and Franco Duarte each had three hits.

Nick Duchene, Anthony Lee, Wesley Graves, and Kyle Boswell each had a hit

for the Rockies.

In other games:

Pirates 10, Angels 4

The Pirate pitching tandem of Chris Poulsen and Mark Miller keyed the

victory, with Poulsen allowing no hits while striking out seven, and

Miller also struck out seven and allowed two hits in relief of Poulsen.

Poulsen and Miller also helped out on offense with two hits apiece, Sean

McEachin went 3 for 3, and Victor Huizar, Chris Czernachowski, and Nick

Ross each had key hits during a six run fifth inning by the Pirates.

Matt Bublitz went 2 for 2 to lead the Angels.

Yankees 10, Rockies 2

Kyle Hammontree’s double began a five run first inning for the Yankees,

who received two hits from Derek Bauermeister, Garrett Heckel, and

Anthony Paterno. Hammontree also pitched four inning, striking out eight

to go with four hits, and Craig Spreeman finished off the Rockies by

allowing one hit while striking out three.
