I think it’s a little too much. I think it would discourage people from

coming into Huntington Beach to use the services and to subsidize the

businesses. I just think it’s too much.

If I were a visitor to Huntington Beach and saw that it was $2 an hour, I

think it would be kind of outrageous because Laguna is only $1 an hour,

Newport is only $1 an hour. Nothing against Huntington Beach, but I don’t

think they have much more to offer than Laguna or Newport. So I would

definitely go against it.

Aircraft noise has resident stirred

Banner-towing aircraft may disturb the peace on summer weekends, but the

entire is city is plagued all year, day and night, by the Huntington

Beach Police Department air unit flying low and slow enough to leave the

pilot little choice as to where the helicopter is going to hit the deck

in the event of an engine or a drive failure.

The millions of dollars spent on the air unit far outweigh their

effectiveness. The cost to the city, if one should come down through the

roof of a school, will no doubt mean yet another city tax on our utility

and property tax bills.

People’s Congress vote of confidence

I’d like to voice my opinion in favor of a People’s Congress to begin in

Huntington Beach. I’m a 29-year resident, and I have seen a few positive

progressive things that have occurred. However, I’ve seen many that have

been very, very disturbing to me as far as changing the quality of life,

the air quality, the visual quality and the beauty in our city. I’m very

much in favor of a people’s congress. It is a wonderful idea.

No-kill shelter a great idea

I hope that a city like Huntington Beach adopts such a plan. I think it

would be very progressive and reflect that the city is humane. For people

who think there are too many animals out there, I think it’s just a

matter of education.

Pet stores wouldn’t be so successful if it were the case that there

aren’t enough people for all these pets. I think there are enough people

for pets, for pet adoption. It’s just that pet stores tend to promote the

idea of the purebred animal as being superior, and in fact they’re not.

They tend to be the least healthy. I hope you do a follow up story.
