College baseball: Dent helps VU split

AZUSA - Vanguard University outfielder James Dent homered three

times, including once in a 7-3 first-game win, as the Lions split a

Golden State Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader at Azusa Pacific

Saturday.

Dent homered twice in the second game, won by Azusa, 16-11.

Vanguard (9-36, 4-24 in conference) knocked the Cougars (27-17, 18-10)

into a first-place tie with Biola.

Kevin Candelaria (a homer and two doubles) and Samuel Baeder (a homer and

a double) also swung hot bats for Vanguard.
