Prep baseball: Hawks pull away from Tars, 14-3
NEWPORT BEACH - Things disintegrated quickly for the Newport Harbor
High baseball team Wednesday, as Laguna Hills broke open a close game to
capture a 14-3 Sea View League triumph at the Sailors’ diamond.
Tied, 3-3, through four innings, Laguna Hills took a 4-3 lead with two
out in the fifth, before stringing together six straight hits to earn a
10-3 cushion.
Senior shortstop Justin Jacobs went 2 for 4 with an RBI to highlight the
Tars’ seven-hit attack.
Newport fell to 5-14, 2-10 in league.
Laguna Hills’ Brian Anderson went 5 for 5 with a double and a home run
and also picked up the pitching victory.
