Baseball: Vanguard holds on, 9-7

COSTA MESA - Vanguard University’s baseball team scored seven runs

in innings 4, 5 and 6. The Lions then held off visiting Westmont for the

9-7 Golden State Athletic Conference upset win Tuesday.

Vanguard (8-35, 3-23 in conference) catcher Kevin Candelaria did most of

the damage with two home runs. He went 3 for 5 with four RBIs and two

runs scored. Westmont falls to 25-16, 14-12 in conference.
