College baseball: Pt. Loma sweeps Lions
COSTA MESA - Samuel Baeder and Adam Steckler each had three hits in
Saturday’s baseball doubleheader, but Vanguard University couldn’t stave
off a sweep by Golden State Athletic Conference visitor Pt. Loma
Nazarene.
Pt. Loma won the first game, 9-1, behind a complete-game three-hitter
from Mitch Newell, then took a 6-0 lead en route to a 7-3 second-game
triumph.
Vanguard fell to 6-34, 2-23 in conference, while Pt. Loma improved to
22-17-2, 16-10.
