RIVERSIDE - Corona del Mar High product Eric Wiethorn went 3 for 5
with a two-run double and a ninth-inning RBI double to give the Orange
Coast College baseball team a stunning 7-5 Orange Empire Conference win
over host Riverside Saturday.
Wiethorn’s two-base hit brought in Chris Laws, who led off the inning
with a single.
John Coleman gave OCC (12-20, 6-13 in conference) a two-run lead when he
drove in Wiethorn with a double.
After a rocky start in his last outing, Jamie Brown threw seven strong
innings, striking out seven. Drew Parkin allowed no hits in the final two
innings to pick up the win.
Laws was 2 for 3 with three runs scored, while Wiethorn finished with
four RBIs.
Despite a rough season for the Pirates, they managed to split their four
games with the Tigers (25-7, 13-6).
OCC will compete in the College of the Sequoias Tournament
Tuesday-Thursday before resuming OEC play at Santa Ana, April 25 at 2
p.m.
