Golf: CdM tops Estancia

NEWPORT BEACH - Four players tied for medalist honors at 2-over-par

37, including three from Corona del Mar High, as the host Sea Kings

defeated Estancia, 194-213, in a nine-hole Pacific Coast League boys golf

match Thursday at Newport Beach Country Club.

John Kwon, Joe Kwon and Innes McDonald each shared the lead for the Sea

Kings (10-4, 6-1 in PCL), while Estancia’s Joey Mueller also carded a 37.

Chris Franta (40) and Manuel Fernandez (43) also scored for Corona del

Mar.

Jason Cassidy (39), Greg Rausch (44), Pete Baker (46) and Matt Cechola

(47) producing scoring marks for the Eagles.

Last weekend, John Kwon, a junior, finished as medalist at an American

Junior Golf Association qualifier event in Houston and will play next

week in an AJGA Championship.
