1. A WEEKEND BLAST: “Meet Mark Twain,” a free event for families

with school-age children, will kick off the Newport Beach Central

Library’s “Star-spangled Weekend” at 7 p.m. today at the library, 1000

Avocado Ave. Storyteller Jim Lewis will entertain audiences of all ages.

Dessert, courtesy of Coco’s, will be served. The fun continues Saturday

and Sunday will a host of hands-on activities and shows. All activities

2. PICK OF THE LITTER: Starting at 9 a.m. today, Youth Expo 2000,

an educational fair focusing on the positive accomplishments of Orange

County youth, will return to the Orange County Fairgrounds through

Sunday. All ages are welcome. Admission and parking are free. Hours are

from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

3. TIME MANAGEMENT: A free workshop titled “How to make the best

use of your limited time in the doctor’s office: What to say and how to

say it so your message is clear” will be presented from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

at Edwards Big Newport Theater, 300 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach.

Parking is free and light refreshments will be served. Physicians and

others in the medical field will be giving specialized talks. Seating is
