NBLL AAA: Red Sox survive against Tigers

NEWPORT BEACH - The Red Sox, after losing a 9-2 lead, scored three

sixth-inning runs to rally for a 12-11 win over the Tigers in Newport

Beach League AAA Division action last weekend.

Andrew Mason and Corbin McNutt each stole home with the tying and winning

runs for the Red Sox.

Blake Haywood pitched out of a sixth-inning jam to earn the save, while

the Red Sox defense played well down the stretch.

Andy Ravzar had a single, double, two runs scored and an RBI to lead the

Padres.

In other AAA action:

Mariners 13, Orioles 8 - Merritt Scott, Andrew Silva, Michael Page, Jack

Lansford and Andrew Drews each had two hits to lead the Mariners over the

Orioles.

After scoring 11 runs in the first two innings, the Mariners turned the

game over to Silva, who pitched four strong innings, striking out eight,

while giving up only four hits.

Orioles pitcher Conner Whalen struck out six in three innings of work and

also had two hits, a walk and two runs scored at the plate.

Yankees 22, Diamondbacks 9 - An 18-hit attack helped the Yankees demolish

the Diamondbacks.

Kai Youngman had a home run, double and single, Patrick Marin-Finn had a

home run and a double, while Nick Taylor chipped in with a triple and

single for the Yankees.

Mitchell Williams, Brian Nichols, Kevin Kottke, Craig MacDonald and Reed

Zachman also had two hits apiece for the Yanks.

Mariners 7, Red Sox 3 - Andrew Drews and Andrew Silva combined to toss a

one-hitter to lead the Mariners over the Red Sox.

Catcher Michael Cage scored three runs and threw out two Red Sox

baserunners.

His counterpart, Red Sox catcher Max Rullins, threw out three

baserunners, while Alexander Ray added a nice running catch.

Yankees 12, Red Sox 11 - The Yankees get their revenge from an earlier

12-11 loss to the Red Sox to win, 12-11 on Monday.

Kai Youngman’s RBI double in the sixth inning brought in Nick Taylor with

the winning run.

Taylor had a triple, single and a run batted in, while Patrick Marin-Finn

had a double, single and two RBIs.

Kevin Kottke, Cory MacDonald, Taylor Stone, Mitchell Williams and Reed

Zachman all had key hits for the Yankees.

Leading the Yankees’ defense was Zachman, Drew Turbow and Bradley Zisper.
